Literary Classics in a Day – A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Share extracts and discuss the incredible appeal of the story’s characters and themes. Who is this course for? This course is suitable for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to beginners and improvers. Previous experience not essential, but enjoyment of fiction and drama is a good background to participation on this course The course is accessible for people of all abilities as a support worker or carer may assist. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs. What will you learn on this course? Spend a day exploring a beautiful tale of redemption in the heart of winter! This Classic in a Day will include a reading of a shortened version of A Christmas Carol by Polly Wright and fellow performer Laurence Inman.  After introducing the book in this way- we will share extracts and discuss the incredible appeal of the story’s characters and themes, and a clip from the film it’s a Wonderful Life- which imitated Dicken’s structure. We will re-visit the narrative by reading key passages aloud and reflect on the different psychological and social interpretations of the themes- but most of all the aim of the day is to celebrate and share enjoyment of wonderful fiction. Do you need to bring anything? Please bring something to write with and a notebook if preferred, loose leaf paper will be provided. Are there any additional costs?
