Our lives in brackets

Our lives in brackets

On hold (…)

with an unknown caller rejigging destinations

manipulating life – lives.

The future.

Contains

(what?)

What ifs?

Ah … buts, so dangly

(on the high-wire)

that second guessing

the space ahead

is as  teasing as the vaccine to coax

the miracle.

What status between

the now

(which has gone by the time you read to here),

or next Thursday, next year

or Wenursday if you can’t remember;

(who does lately?).

And what of the unknown normal?

(If ever there becomes a normal

we recognise as normal).

Would a next phase unmask another wave

to be turned

on its globules and

sent packing?

Then,

can we close the brackets?
