The Hearth Centre is very pleased to announce that we have received emergency funds for a 6 month project called Tales of Lockdown. The phrase “unprecedented” has been used for the Coronavirus epidemic we are currently living through- but for many people, our present situation rings bells with very similar situations they have previously been through.

This project aims to gather stories about living in times of national emergency. We are collating anecdotes of past and present, when people’s personal freedoms were suddenly restricted. Examples of these situations could be wars, the AIDS crisis, or fleeing to another country as a refugee. You are free to write in any short literary art form, including memoir, fiction, poetry or drama on any subject triggered by our title.

The Hearth Centre will be receiving submissions from now onwards - and curating them on this blog.

If you would like to contribute your story to this project, please click on this link for details on how to get in touch. If you are unsure about technology and how you can contribute, do not hesitate to get in touch with us for some advice.
